Dickinson's Baird Sustainability Fellowship program names 2018 fellows

When students sign in to the college, they’re signing up for a distinctive liberal-arts education for the common good, and one way they use that education to make a difference is by continuing Dickinson’s unwavering commitment to sustainability. For a select number of seniors from all majors and all academic divisions, that commitment is dignified by the Baird Sustainability Fellowship program.

The Baird Fellowship is a collegewide honors program that recognizes graduating seniors who have advanced sustainability goals on or beyond our campus through excellence in scholarship, leadership and service, among other criteria. The fellows take a half-credit interdisciplinary Baird Honors Colloquium in the spring, serve as leaders for sustainability on campus and take on sustainability service programs.

Since its inception in 2013, the program, named after Spencer Fullerton Baird—a prominent naturalist of the 19th century and Dickinson alumnus and professor—has brought dozens of Dickinsonians to the ranks of Baird Fellows.

Meet this year's 13 fellows, and learn more about their work in sustainability at Dickinson and what they hope to do after graduation:
