2024 Baird Sustainability Fellow

Natalia Donia, Anthropology and Archaeology Majors

Baird Sustainability Fellow 2024, Natalia DoniaNatalia Donia ’26 is an Anthropology and Archaeology double major from Harleysville, Pennsylvania. Her coursework combined with her work at the Dickinson College Farm sparked her interest in sustainability, foodways, and food justice, despite having a completely different intended path when she entered Dickinson. Helping to grow food and connecting with the community at Famers at the Square fostered her desire to support and strengthen local food systems. Learning about contemporary issues in food production and social inequity through her coursework in Anthropology inspired her to become a more involved advocate, volunteering with her local markets and soup kitchens at home. These interests have also guided her to study ancient foodways and sustainability through archaeological coursework and fieldwork in Virginia. After Dickinson, Natalia hopes to work with non-profits that help connect people with locally grown food and empower communities to take control of how they produce, sell, and eat their food.

Outside of her coursework, Natalia is involved in the Syrens Acapella group as President and the Liberty Cap Society. She works at the College Farm and in Admissions as a Student Worker, was a former Teaching Assistant for the Archaeology department, and volunteers with Project SHARE. This summer, she will be serving as a Sustainability Projects Intern at the Center for Sustainability Education (CSE).

Natalia is extremely thankful for the opportunity to have participated in the Baird Honors Colloquium, and she is excited to take everything she has learned into the next phases of her life.
