Maddie Littlepage, 2021 Baird Sustainability FellowBAIRD E-PORTFOLIO

Madison Littlepage is an International Studies Major, German Minor, and Security Studies Certificate from Aldie, Virginia. She has done substantial research in Climate Refugees, which culminated on Earth Day 2019 in co-leading a Teach-In about the subject. Since then, Madison is hoping to continue to advocate and raise awareness of the plight of Climate Refugees by creating multi-media resources.

On Dickinson’s campus, she is first and foremost a member of the Women’s swim team, where she swims distance freestyle and backstroke. There Madison has led charitable initiatives such as Operation Christmas Child, as well as involved in the recruitment of future Red Devils. On land, Madison is an employee of the Costume Shop and member of the Mermaid Players. The Costume Shop only makes new costumes where existing ones do not exist or cannot be altered, they also make sustainable crafts such as T-shirt bags, while learning skills to make their own clothing. In Mermaid Players, Madison is the head escape room designer, making eco-friendly escape rooms by reusing props or building props out of scraps. As a Baird Fellow, Madison would like to create a classroom escape room available free to teachers, in order for the younger generation to learn about sustainability through a fun yet education tool.
