Kristen Kozar is a Political Science and Spanish double major, Latin American, Latino, & Caribbean studies minor, and is pursuing a Food Studies Certificate. Kristen spent the spring semester of her junior year studying abroad at CEDEI in Cuenca, Ecuador and at UNCUYO in Mendoza, Argentina, focusing her studies on social movements, comparative politics, and environmental justice.

Throughout her Dickinson career, Kristen has been extensively involved in civic engagement. On campus, Kristen works for the Center for Civic Learning and Action as the coordinator for the Montgomery Service Leaders program, as a global ambassador for Dickinson in South America Program, and also serves as a student board member of Partnership for Better Health, a local non-profit that invests more than $2 million in grants to advance community health.

Kristen has previously worked on environmental and social sustainability issues through internships with the Mayor’s Office of Community Affairs for the City of Pittsburgh, Project Share Food Pantry, and the Center for Sustainability Education. Additionally, Kristen volunteered as an interpreter for migrant apple farm workers in Adams County, and conducted research on the usage of governmental food benefits in Cumberland County. Kristen looks forward to collaborating with and learning from her peers in the Baird Fellows colloquium.
