Kendra Beaver, Baird FellowBAIRD E-PORTFOLIO

Kendra is an Environmental Studies major and Political Science minor from Danbury, Connecticut. At Dickinson, she is able to build on her passion for low-waste lifestyles and conscious consumerism as the Waste Minimization Intern at the Center for Sustainability Education. As a Junior, she studied abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark, where she learned about climate change and glaciology, renewable energy systems, and waste management in Europe, among other topics. During her Sophomore year, she was an Intern at Carlisle’s Project SHARE and also lived in the Treehouse (Center for Sustainable Living).

Off campus, Kendra has explored career experiences in a range of sustainability-focused fields. She spent the summer of 2018 doing field work as a River Steward Intern at the northwestern-Connecticut watershed conservation organization Housatonic Valley Association. As a Sustainable Connecticut Fellow in summer 2019, she worked closely with local government staff and community leaders to implement sustainability initiatives in their municipalities. Kendra was also an Extern at the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

Kendra’s passions lie in environmental justice and how policy and activism can create positive change for the earth and its inhabitants. She is excited to work alongside the Baird Sustainability Fellows and learn from their perspectives and experiences.
