FACULTY:

Windsor Morgan
Associate Professor of Physics and Astronomy
Director, Charles M. Kanev Planetarium

Professor Morgan’s graduate research involved studying the X-ray emission from active galactic nuclei. He has published papers on X-ray binaries, the formation of hydrocarbons in the early solar system, statistical methods of analyzing astronomical surveys and devices for use in introductory astronomy classes. He has also co-authored a book on the use of computer programming in introductory physics as well as two books of "think-pair-share" questions for introductory astronomy courses. As director of the Charles M. Kanev Planetarium, he also studies methods of astronomy education in and out of the classroom. Professor Morgan earned his bachelor's degree in astronomy and astrophysics from Harvard College and his Ph.D. degree in astronomy and astrophysics from Pennsylvania State University. His work has been funded by NASA and the National Science Foundation.
