What is it?

The FYSH Program has been designed by the Wellness Center to help ease your transition into college life.  As you adjust to living away from home, you will also be making many decisions about your health and wellness for the first time. The Dickinson College Wellness Center is here to help make sure you are on the right path to success.

This is the third year that the Wellness Center is offering the FYSH Program.  Students who participated in the initial pilot program reported that they would recommend this program to other incoming students as it increased their knowledge and comfort with Wellness Center services.

If you decide to join the FYSH Program as an incoming first year student, you will be set up with preventative visits with a Nurse Practitioner, Psychologist and Dietitian. Together you will work on prevention-based care while addressing any acute or chronic illnesses (if applicable), while incorporating your values, culture, and preferences.

The program will:

  • Connect you to resources available at the Wellness Center.
  • Connect your home healthcare providers to those at the Wellness Center - if you have a chronic health condition or take daily medication, we will work with your home provider to make sure you have access to any services you need while you are away from home including local specialists if needed.
  • Discuss ways to improve your health and wellbeing.
  • Discuss typical first year experiences, transitions, and challenges and help you prepare for them.

How to sign up:

  • Check the “interested” box on your online medical history form through the Patient Portal

Regardless of how you sign up, one of the team members will contact you in August to get you scheduled for your first appointment.
