BAIRD E-PORTFOLIO

Maxwell Lee is a senior from North Reading, MA who has spent the better part of his four years at Dickinson studying climate change through a variety of different lenses. He was initially exposed to many aspects of environmentalism during a trail crew trip in the White Mountains during high school and decided to attend Dickinson due to its myriad of environmental offerings. The College Farm has been his second home on campus since he began working there during the summer after his freshman year. Thanks to the farm, he has been able to participate in hands-on sustainable agriculture work while simultaneously meeting many of his close friends and being able to take constructive breaks from campus life.

Max has explored his affinity for research starting sophomore year. To this day, he has investigated: climate change and invasive snails, climate change and native wildflower populations, indicators for measuring community resilience to climate change, and alternative energy and fertilizer generation mechanisms. He hopes to continue climate-oriented research after graduation.

The treehouse has been Max’s home and favorite spot on campus since he moved in Sophomore year. He has also served on Dickinson’s Sustainable Investment Group, Bicycle Advisory Committee, and Environmental Science Majors Committee, which have provided him a well-rounded view of sustainability at Dickinson. In his free time, he enjoys or running around the Cumberland Valley, playing board games and jamming out on the drums.
