Admissions Counselor Biographies

Kate Guertin

Kate GuertinI work with students from Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island and live full-time in New England. I value that Dickinson supports a personalized approach to admissions, and getting to know the students I’m working with is my favorite part of the job!

Admissions Advice

Keep fit at the forefront of your mind – do your research, ask good questions. When you choose the college that is genuinely the best fit for you, you're more likely to thrive academically, socially, and personally. Just imagine the strength of a community where every student has chosen that college because it feels like their place.

One of the things I value most about Dickinson is our personalized approach to admissions. Getting to know the students I work with is my favorite part of the job. My role is to be your best resource and connector to the college throughout your search process so you can determine if Dickinson is the best fit for you.

I encourage you to take advantage of my proximity whenever possible. Throughout the admissions cycle, there are many opportunities for us to meet in person, discuss Dickinson, and explore whether the college is the right fit for you.

Why Dickinson

The Dickinson community is incredibly welcoming, supportive, and full of genuinely kind people. If you're looking for a close-knit campus where you can build meaningful relationships with faculty, challenge yourself in a rigorous liberal arts environment, and explore a wide range of academic interests through an interdisciplinary curriculum, Dickinson should be on your list.

Our beautiful limestone campus and the historic college town of Carlisle offer a comfortable, familiar feel that often reminds students from New England of home. Beyond graduation, Dickinson students go on to become globally engaged citizens who make meaningful contributions in their communities and professions around the world. Preparing students to positively impact the world beyond our campus is one of the things I value most about a Dickinson education.

Supplemental Essay Support

We know essay questions can be tricky—so I took a crack at answering one of our supplemental questions myself! Let me know if I can be of additional help as you work on your application materials.

What topic or idea could you write or converse about endlessly?

I’m a huge fan of social strategy competition shows. Big Brother, The Traitors, Survivor to name a few. I find the sociology to be fascinating, and the twists and turns very exciting.  When watching, I’m all in. I listen to podcasts and love to talk predictions with others.

Fun Facts About Me
