How has Dickinson prepared you for life after graduation?

Dickinson has prepared me for life after graduation in many different ways. It has taught me how to communicate with employers, work in teams and problem-solve on my own. I have learned how to analyze data, read scientific research papers and formulate opinions based on facts. I have also learned not to take things at face value, looking from all different perspectives to fully understand situations. I've learned how to be a more understanding, hardworking person and can't wait to put my new knowledge to use in "adult" life.

What elements from your Dickinson experience had the biggest impact on your time in college?

One element is the flexible liberal arts curriculum Dickinson has to offer. Through a STEM major and an ethics minor, I was able to broaden my understanding of the world from two seemingly dichotomous perspectives that ultimately ended up perfectly complementing one another. The things I learned at Dickinson both academically and about myself are invaluable to me moving forward. A second element would be the amount of opportunities that were presented to me that made stepping out of the comfort zone just as easy as pursuing the interests I was predisposed to. Being part of a supportive and accepting community of professors, staff and peers has been crucial to my venturing outside of what I already know I am comfortable with.
