Dickinson has taught me how to be a fearless leader by asking good questions, actively listening and keeping an open mind. Dickinson has not only taught me invaluable hard and critical thinking skills that I can apply to any line of work and/or study but also, and perhaps more important, the soft skills that I can use to effectively communicate with others. I've learned many crucial life lessons throughout my past four years at Dickinson, and I feel confident that I will be able to act on my curiosities and make a positive impact in the world as a result. Thank you, Dickinson, and thank you to all of my mentors and professors for challenging me to become a better student and person.
What are you most anticipating about your career or post-graduate pursuits?
I am looking forward to learning all about public health and more specifically maternal and children's health. I am eager to continue building on the skills I have gained at Dickinson through research opportunities to make a positive contribution to the field of public health. I am thrilled to be living in NYC for the next two years, where I will be surrounded by limitless opportunities and connections.

Being a member of the Women's Golf Team! Being a tour guide and meeting perspective students was also a great experience.

I interned with the Cumberland County Court House as well as with Dining Services - duties varied but both locations were in Carlisle. I worked primarily with data and understanding existing precedents.

Job Responsibilities
I will be helping oversee assessment administration at one of Success Academy's 45 schools within New York City. I will also assist in entering assessment data, which will help guide the decisions of teachers and administrators.
How has Dickinson prepared you for life after graduation?
Dickinson has taught me how to learn, think critically, and that I don’t know what I don’t know. Between classes, working at various campus offices, club leadership roles, internships and studying abroad in two countries, I have seen how learning does not stop once you leave the classroom. Each of my experiences has contributed to who I am today, and Dickinson has prepared me with the curiosity to keep exploring.
What are you most anticipating about your career or post-graduate pursuits?
I am most anticipating learning even more about myself. I am preparing to understand more about my interests and how the topics I was drawn to in college will apply to how I spend my time post-graduation.
What are some of the defining moments of your Dickinson experience?
- Staying involved with The Dickinsonian has been one of the defining aspects of my time at the college after starting as a staff writer during my very first semester and now ending as a co-editor-in-chief this academic year. Working with the paper has enabled me to have an awareness for the school’s operations and student needs that I have deeply appreciated. Lastly, the paper has introduced me to a community I have been proud to play a role in over the last four years.
- Furthermore, joining Kappa Alpha Theta during the spring of 2018 has shaped my experience at Dickinson in ways I never could have predicted. The network and support of everyone in the organization has been of value to me in a wide variety of contexts, and I’ll always be grateful that I went through recruitment my second semester.
- Lastly, studying abroad in Málaga, Spain for the fall 2019 and Copenhagen, Denmark for half of the spring 2020 was another pivotal point in my Dickinson career. Dickinson’s study abroad programming was one of the reasons I ultimately chose to attend the school, and the opportunity to travel outside the United States for the first time and experience life in completely foreign cities was just as amazing as I thought it would be. My memories of solely using Spanish to communicate with my host mother in Spain and learning about my Danish roommates’ upbringing in the “world’s happiest country” will remind me of the many corners of the world there are left to learn about.
Internship Experience
- During the summer of 2018, I worked as a media intern at Media Horizons, an online-response marketing agency in Darien, Conn. During this internship, I researched the behaviors of each generation and how they applied to current and prospective clients’ services. I would then use this demographic information to create visualizations of the relevant statistics in accordance with the company’s branding.
- During the summer of 2019, I interned at The Fresh Air Fund, a nonprofit organization that provides free summer experiences to New York City children from historically underserved communities. In this role, I helped oversee the application process for Friendly Towns, the organization’s host family program.
- In the summer of 2020, I served as an AmeriCorps VISTA member for Urban Scholars, a summer learning program at LifeBridge Community Services in Bridgeport, Conn. As a program impact associate, I designed surveys for scholars and their parents and analyzed the data to assess the program’s effects on its scholars as the summer progressed. The findings are now being used in presentations to donors and other stakeholders to communicate the program’s success during an especially unconventional summer following evolving COVID-19 public health guidelines.
