Interdisciplinary Studies Prepare Our Students

Bill McKibben meets with Eco-criticism class for outdoor discussion.

Students wishing to pursue graduate studies related to sustainability after their undergraduate studies at Dickinson will find numerous masters and doctoral programs at other institutions from which to choose.  Programs that are strongly focused on sustainability, and have sustainability in the degree name, have emerged in recent years and are growing rapidly in number. But programs with longer histories and track records in fields of interest that can be applied to sustainability problems and solutions are also good options.

Seek advice about graduate studies from your academic advisor, other faculty, people working in fields that interest you, recent graduates, and more seasoned alumni. CSE can help with general guidance. The Dickinson Career Center has resources to help you navigate the process of applying to graduate schools.

The Association for Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) maintains a list of sustainability focused graduate programs in a wide range of disciplines. The list includes brief summaries and links to the homepages of each program.
