“I’m thrilled to be joining the Dickinson team,” said Champion. “There are so many talented students, faculty, staff and alumni that make up the Dickinson community, and I’m particularly excited about Dickinson’s unwavering commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. This is a great honor. I can’t wait to roll up my sleeves and get to work.”

Previously, Champion was an associate attorney and then partner at Rhoads and Sinon, LLP, and a law clerk and in-house counsel at the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency Legal Division, both based in Harrisburg.

His accolades include being named one of the Top 100 National Black Lawyers (2020 and 2021), Harrisburg Magazine’s Simply the Best People Civil Rights Attorney (2019) and a Rising Star-In the field of Education Law by Pennsylvania Super Lawyer Magazine (2012, 2013) and receiving the Central Pennsylvania Business Journal’s 2013 40 Under 40 Award.

Champion currently serves as chair of the Carlisle Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, of which he has been a member since 2018.

He earned his B.A. in speech communication with a minor in government from Shippensburg University; a J.D. from Widener University School of Law; and a master’s degree in trial advocacy from Temple University Beasley School of Law.

“We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Vince to Dickinson,” said Dickinson President John E. Jones III ’77, P’11. “His experience and depth of knowledge are truly impressive, and he has been a friend of the college for many years.”

Champion lives in Carlisle with his wife Heather ’97, a former staff member in the Advising, Internships & Career Center who is rejoining the college as a senior advancement officer this spring. The Champions have participated in the Friendship Family program for several years, and Vincent Champion has been involved with MANdatory and Dickinson athletics and has hosted an extern at his law firm.
