Puzzler: “An Evening at the Combinatorial Theater”
Five couples decide to buy tickets to a new show they are all excited to see. At the theatre, there are (conveniently) 10 seats in the first row, and the group purchases them all. The question for our listeners is: How many different ways can the group seat themselves across the front row from left to right if the couples decide to sit together. If this question seems intimidating, try working out the solution for one, two, and three couples first, and see if you can discover the pattern.
Listen to the new question at the 2:19 mark.
