The psychology major emphasizes psychology as a basic science providing the knowledge and skills for students to investigate the mind and behavior. Introductory courses present nine facets of the field, from principles of learning to clinical psychology. Majors learn the fundamentals of research design in four semesterlong courses. Faculty members strongly support student-led research projects, and all majors are able to experience the process of psychology research firsthand. The expertise of the psychology faculty spans a wide range of subdisciplines, including social psychology, clinical and community psychology, developmental psychology, cognitive psychology and neuroscience.
