What elements from your Dickinson experience had the biggest impact on your time in college?

My study abroad experience, though it was not what I expected it to be, afforded me the break from academics that I needed. During this time, I revisited my goals for the future and took the time I needed to make sure I was sure about what I wanted to do, all while exploring the Danish countryside.

What elements from your Dickinson experience had the biggest impact on your time in college?

My friends and the boyfriend I have had here at Dickinson have opened my eyes to new ways of thinking, new passions, goals and ideas. I come from a very small island, and in some ways I feel limited there—Dickinson has made me feel expansive and like the world is my oyster. Another element that has impacted me greatly is seeing tutelage at its best in the world of ballet at CPYB, the ballet school affiliated with Dickinson. Here I've been able to learn so much in the field of ballet and also about life ... about myself. In my job after Dickinson I'll be teaching at a ballet school and involving this tutelage.

What elements from your Dickinson experience had the biggest impact on your time in college?

Dickinson's faculty are very encouraging of students looking into and spending time on what they are passionate. Professor of German Sarah McGaughey supervised me on what was essentially a yearlong passion project through an independent study on a book of German feminist literary theory because she knew how interested I was doing the project and was incredibly encouraging throughout the entire process.

What elements from your Dickinson experience had the biggest impact on your time in college?

I think one would definitely be the kind of intersectional educational experience I had; getting to double major (and then eventually also pick up two minors) while also having time for working (at the library!) and having a study abroad experience accounted for and almost built into the program made it feel like I was really getting the full benefit of my education. Beyond that, honestly, the way that I learned close reading and analysis in all of my areas of study really helped me in analyzing knowledge in my everyday life; it's invaluable, especially now when I'm trying to convey information in a public-facing manner.
