Chase Weller '25

Student Snapshot: Chase Weller ‘25

Thanks to two summer internships at Capital One Financial Group, student-athlete Chase Weller ’25 began his senior year with a job offer in hand. Below, he discusses those internships, the best part of his time at Dickinson, his advice for younger students and more.

Hometown:

Middletown, Md.

Major:

International business & management (IB&M), with minors in economics and Spanish.

Clubs and organizations:

Varsity baseball, IB&M Committee, Admissions Fellows, Liberty Cap Society (tour guides) and Peer Tutor.

Honors/scholarships/awards:

Dean’s List (fall 2021, spring 2022, fall 2023 and fall 2024).

Best thing about my major:

Being able to take a bunch of different business classes and seeing which fields I am interested in.

Favorite class:

My favorite class was Empirical Data Analysis with Professor of IB&M Steve Erfle. One of my teammates and I got to do a research project on Major League Baseball’s “home run revolution,” which was interesting and fun.

Best thing about my Dickinson experience so far:

Being a part of the baseball team. I get to spend every day with my best friends and play the sport I love with them.

About my internships:

During the past two summers I have interned at Capital One as a business analyst in their headquarters in McLean, Va. I have worked in loss forecasting and on the CreditWise app. I was able to work with such smart people who taught me so much about problem-solving, analysis and how to present in a corporate setting. I learned a lot of SQL and used it daily in both summers. It was awesome working in two different divisions of the company and experiencing how each organization within Capital One has its own culture and day to day activities.

Post-Dickinson plans:

I will be working at Capital One as a business analyst in McLean, Va.

Most important thing I’ve learned so far:

Learn from those around you.
