ACLE promotes a student-based teaching method and is the first association in Italy to teach English to children through T.I.E. (Theatre in Education) and to organise drama courses for teachers. AuPairWorld — One of the largest and most established au pair matching websites. Young adults create a profile and search for host families throughout Italy based on location, length of stay, dates, and other preferences. AuPairWorld is primarily a matching platform rather than a placement agency, so the au pair and family interview one another and arrange the placement themselves. It is a good option for students who want flexibility and are comfortable taking an active role in finding and evaluating a family.
AuPair.com — An international website that connects prospective au pairs with host families in Italy and around the world. Students can create a profile, browse Italian families, and contact potential matches. Like AuPairWorld, it is primarily a self-service matching platform, although it also provides information about contracts, visas, insurance, and the practical aspects of being an au pair. It can be useful as a second source for students who want to compare a larger number of Italian families.
Italian Au Pair Agencies — Local placement agencies provide a more structured alternative to online matching sites. Depending on the agency, they may screen host families, help match the au pair with an appropriate household, explain expectations and contracts, and provide assistance while the au pair is in Italy. This can be a better choice for a first-time traveler or someone who would prefer more support and oversight, although agency programs may involve additional fees.
Important for U.S. students: Before committing to any placement, students should determine what visa or immigration status is required for the particular length and type of stay. An au pair arrangement involves work in exchange for compensation/benefits, so students should not assume that the normal 90-day visa-free tourist allowance automatically covers an au pair placement.
