Magliacano-Melchione Family Internship Fund

The Magliacano-Melchione Family Internship fund was established in 2018 thanks to the generous gift of Marc Magliacano. Awarded funds can be used to provide support for student enrichment opportunities, such as internships or scholarly research experiences that enhance career advancement for students majoring in Italian Studies or minoring in Italian. First preference for an award from the Fund will be given to students majoring in Italian Studies; second preference for an award from the Fund will be given to students minoring in Italian.

The Magliacanos and the Melchionnes immigrated to the United States from Southern Italy at the turn of the last century at a time when Italian nationals were denigrated and mistreated. It was through their perserverance, dedication to honest work and value of education that later generations flourished. With this fund, Marc would like to recognize their courage to leave their native country in search of greater opportunities and he honors their success. Dickinson College has developed one of the strongest undergraduate Italian Studies programs in the country and Marc would like to contribute to its success by helping make career advancement for its students a pillar of its program.

Summer Internship Funding

Dickinson students also have the opportunity to apply for a grant to assist in completing an unpaid or low-paid summer internship. This is a competitive process; not all applications will be awarded a grant.  If awarded a grant, it may not be in the full amount requested.  Preferential consideration is given to first-time applicants completing unpaid/low-paid experiences.

The information for this summer will be available in February.
