Internships

Philadelphia Arts Internships

Philadelphia offers a lively and innovative arts scene in a setting rich with history and culture. The sixth largest city in the nation, it is home to world-class institutions in theater, music, dance and art as well as a vibrant network of smaller grassroots organizations. These opportunities, combined with the city’s affordable housing and its manageable scale, have made Philadelphia a popular destination for artists of all kinds, including a number of recent graduates in the arts at Dickinson.

In an effort to help current arts students pursue their career plans, faculty at Dickinson have selected a handful of arts internship opportunities for Summer 2019 in Philadelphia. These sites often represent workplaces where our students have had successful internships in the past and, in some cases, where current alumni are employed. Although these internship opportunities are openly advertised – and have not been set aside for Dickinson students, specifically – we expect Dickinson students to be competitive for these positions, especially with the support of faculty in the arts and resources available through the Center for Advising, Internships & Lifelong Career Development.

Positions are both paid and unpaid. Students with unpaid or low-paid internships can apply for grant funding through Dickinson’s Summer Internship Grants and for transcript recognition through the Internship Notation Program (INP). For students from the Philadelphia area who qualify, there are paid internships through Arts Intern.

Students who participate in the Summer 2019 program will have the chance to network with Dickinson arts alumni who work in the Philadelphia area.
