The Center for Global Study and Engagement (CGSE) is committed to creating opportunities for students of all backgrounds to study abroad and to providing meaningful support throughout your experience. Our campus is a community of global citizens whose voices and experiences matter. Our education abroad programs are enhanced by your diverse perspectives and backgrounds.
Access and inclusion are currently unequal in education abroad and our office is actively working towards addressing these issues in the following ways:
Providing students with information regarding funding and various financial resources
Providing inclusive orientations and predeparture communications
Providing support spaces for returning students of varying identities
Empowering diverse students by integrating inclusionary practices into every aspect of the study abroad process
Training faculty and staff on campus and abroad
Cultivating an open and supportive environment on site, fostering safe and healthy living and learning environments, and providing meaningful outlets for students to express their identities within their local cultural context
Student Identities
As you research your study abroad options, consider how your identity (identities) may shape your experience. Navigating your identity abroad can be both a challenging and rewarding experience. We encourage you to utilize the resources available to you through our office such as your study abroad advisor, global ambassadors, and the links posted at the bottom of this page, to help you on your journey.
In addition to the student identities resources above, students are encouraged to connect with students and staff members on campus who can help them engage with these topics and answer questions they may have.
