Hometown:

Sharon, Mass.

High school:

Sharon High School.

On choosing Dickinson:

From the moment I stepped onto campus, I felt an immediate sense of belonging. I was drawn to the strong sense of community and the beauty of the campus.

Best thing about my Dickinson experience so far:

The meaningful connections I’ve made with professors and fellow students, and the opportunity to explore a variety of subjects that give me the full liberal-arts experience.

Favorite class/project:

My photography professor, Visiting Lecturer in Art & Art History Andy Bale, photographs people whose stories often go unheard. For his class, we chose one of his photographs to write an essay about, and I wrote about his photograph of Knight, a peacekeeper for the Department of Justice. Andy sent my essay to him to read. I got a chance to meet Knight when he moderated an event, and he told me my essay resonated with him. Because of my photography class, I formed a new connection that I would not have made otherwise.

About my internship:

I’m currently an intern at Moving Circles, a local nonprofit dedicated to building a beloved community and empowering people to take action for social change. Through this experience, I’ve met many members of the Carlisle community who have made my time at Dickinson even more meaningful. Getting involved in the local community has given me a stronger sense of place and purpose.

Favorite professor:

Associate Professor of Africana Studies Lynn Johnson. In every class, I learn something new, and she makes me feel that my ideas matter. She challenges the way I think while creating a classroom environment that feels warm, welcoming and inclusive.

Most important thing I’ve learned so far:

The most important thing I’ve learned is to get involved in whatever makes your heart happy! Dickinson offers so many opportunities and resources to explore—whether it’s swimming in the pool, going to campus events, attending lectures, trying out a new class or simply taking time to enjoy!

Major:

Undeclared.

Clubs and organizations:

Center for Civic Learning & Action (CCLA), Ultimate Frisbee and Spanish Club.
