Cormac Sullivan '26 is a varsity athlete who studied abroad during his junior year.
Whether leading a campus tour, competing in varsity squash, studying abroad in Málaga, writing in Spanish or singing a cappella, Cormac Sullivan ’26 (political science, Spanish) is all in. “Genuine engagement—whether in class, athletics or music—makes all the difference,” the Red Devil student-athlete says. “The best thing about Dickinson is being surrounded by people who want to be engaged in our community.”
Major:
Political science and Spanish.
Hometown:
Suffield, Conn.
High School:

Best thing about my Dickinson experience so far:
The best thing about Dickinson is being surrounded by people who want to be engaged in our community. Everyone on campus is involved in at least one organization they’re passionate about. I’m lucky to have found my closest friends through the groups I’m involved in.
Best thing about my majors:
The best thing about both of my majors is that the classes are small and discussion-based. With small classes, it’s much easier for me to share my opinion or make a comment. All my professors prioritize engagement in their classes through participation, which has been very beneficial for my learning.
On choosing Dickinson:
I decided to attend Dickinson because of the warm community and the kind people I met at Revisit Day. Everyone I interacted with—both current and admitted students—seemed genuine, and I could easily picture myself being friends with them.
Favorite class:
Creative Writing From Memory with Professor of Spanish Jorge Sagastume. He organized the course perfectly to introduce us to different types of creative writing styles and gave us full freedom to write in Spanish. He always helped us develop ideas, and I really enjoyed my essays for his class.
Favorite professor:
Professor Sagastume has been one of my favorites. His passion for teaching and his encouragement of creativity helped me grow as a writer and a Spanish speaker.
On studying abroad:
I studied abroad in Málaga, Spain, where I lived with the most inclusive and caring host family. I’ll always remember our dinners on their terrace and our trips to nearby towns. They were truly one of a kind, and I’d love to visit them again if I return to Spain.
Post-Dickinson plans:
I plan to pursue a career that combines my interests in politics, communication and global engagement.
Most important thing I’ve learned so far:
That genuine engagement—whether in class, athletics or music—makes all the difference in creating meaningful liberal arts experiences.
Clubs and Organizations:
Men’s Varsity Squash, The Octals and Liberty Caps (tour guides).
Honors/Scholarships/Awards:
Charles A. Dana Scholarship.
