Awaken your senses this spring with an event lineup filled with invigorating performances, exhibits, readings and residencies! This semester, you’ll find a variety of high-profile and high-impact public arts events on campus.
Three major residencies anchor the arts events this spring:
The coming-of-age rock musical Spring Awakening comes to Dickinson March 1-3. The eight-time Tony Award-winning original production debuted on Broadway in 2006 with a cast led by Jonathan Groff (“Hamilton,” “Mindhunter”), Lea Michele (“Glee”) and John Gallagher Jr. (“American Idiot,” “The Newsroom”).
Also noteworthy is a lecture by Sarah Lewis of Harvard University. Named this year’s Jane L. and Robert H. Weiner Lecturer in the Arts, Lewis will discuss her forthcoming book, Unseen Truth: How Race Changed Sight in America.
And the music department partners with Dickinson’s Title IX & Sexual Respect Office with a combined concert, lecture and demonstration by harpist Jessica Browning in April. Browning will discuss her own healing process and the ways that music facilitated her healing. She’ll also offer somatic and breath exercises for audience members to try.
Here are the spring events by category:
