Favorite class:

Political Philosophy, with Assistant Professor of Political Science Kathryn Heard, which I took in my first year. Professor Heard’s ability to make even the most complex ideas accessible sparked my interest in political thought and led me to pursue law & policy as one of my majors. I have also been very fortunate to have Professor Heard as my advisor. Like so many of the faculty at Dickinson, her encouragement and mentorship has been crucial to my college experience.

Favorite place on campus:

The Biblio.

On studying abroad:

I studied abroad during my junior year at Mansfield College at the University of Oxford in England. One of the highlights was experiencing the tutorial system, where the emphasis is on independent work, rather than formal lectures or classes. Each week, I met one-on-one or in a small group with my tutor, who is a professor, to discuss the weekly readings and my written work. This individualized approach has allowed me to deepen my thinking about complex topics and has enabled me to develop strong relationships with my tutors, for which I am very grateful.

Another aspect I loved about studying abroad was playing for Oxford's Blues Lacrosse team and traveling all over England to compete against other universities and clubs. One of the highlights includes co-captaining one of our teams to victory against Cambridge!

If I could have dinner with anyone, living or dead, it would be …

… Winston Churchill.

About my internship:

During summer 2022 I had the opportunity to intern at the U.S. attorney’s office for the Eastern District of New York in Brooklyn. It was a fantastic experience that enabled me to work on a variety of matters, and to watch court proceedings at the federal courthouse.
