Dickinson-CET Global Leaders Scholarship

The Dickinson-CET Global Leaders Scholarship is a four-year, full-tuition scholarship awarded annually to a student who shows interest in global issues and has participated in CET high school programs for which Dickinson grants credit. The successful candidate will demonstrate outstanding academic performance, a global mindset, engagement in the community, a drive to confront important international issues and a strong sense of integrity and character.

ELIGIBILITY

Candidates must have successfully completed a CET program for which Dickinson grants college credits. Nominations will be invited from CET staff, and candidates may also self-nominate.

APPLYING

Applicants for the scholarship must apply to Dickinson using the Common Application and complete this online application by the January 15 Regular Decision deadline. Additional requirements:

  • Response to the scholarship essay prompt: Dickinson prepares engaged leaders to take part in a global community. Why is gaining an understanding of the world and its people important? Please share an example of something you have learned during your study abroad experience that changed the way you thought about an issue or experience. (500-750 words)
  • Interview
  • CSS Profile and FAFSA forms must be submitted by the selected application deadline for those applying for need-based financial aid

Note that the online application for this scholarship opens each year when the Common Application opens on on August 1.

SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE 

The Dickinson-CET Global Leaders Scholarship Committee will include the college president, vice president for enrollment/dean of admissions, executive director of the Center for Global Study & Engagement and a CET representative.

SELECTION

The committee will select one awardee and one alternate. The awardee and alternate will be notified of their selection by mid-March. Response from the awardee to the scholarship offer will be due by May 1. The alternate will be notified as soon as the awardee has responded to the offer, no later than May 15.

MAINTAINING THE SCHOLARSHIP

The Global Leaders Scholarship is intended as a four-year (eight semester) scholarship. The recipient will retain the scholarship by being enrolled full-time at Dickinson or a Dickinson-partner program and maintaining good academic standing (3.0 or better).
