Spotlighting Success: What Does This Mean for the African American and Indigenous Communities in Carlisle?

April 16, 2025

Join the Center for Civic Learning and Action (CCLA) for a powerful conversation on what success means for the African American and Indigenous communities in Carlisle.

This is a space to uplift voices, celebrate achievements, and share personal experiences. Together, we’ll explore how success has been shaped by history, resilience, and community, and how individuals define it on their terms. Whether you come to listen, learn, or share, your presence helps foster a meaningful dialogue that honors these vibrant communities.

This panel will feature four guest speakers:

Safronia Perry, Councilwoman on the Carlisle Borough Council

Rev. Yvette Davis, Director of the Popel Shaw Center for Race and Ethnicity

Amanda Cheromiah, Director for the Center of the Future for Native Peoples

Miss Thelma Muldrow, Respected Carlisle Elder & Grandmother

This event is organized by Kina Jefferson '27, Carlisle Borough Student Ambassador.
