The Crucible

October 28, 2023

The Department of Theatre & Dance presents Arthur Miller's The Crucible.

Witch hunts, socially sanctioned violence, invasion of public morality into private life ... these familiar contemporary themes are tackled by Arthur Miller in his 1953 Tony Award-winning play The Crucible. Miller draws parallels with the Salem witch trials in the late 17th century and his experience of McCarthy's anti-communist investigations in the 1950s. Hysteria, intolerance, paranoia and superstitions collide with tragic results in this modern American masterpiece. This production is directed by Professor of Theatre Karen Lordi-Kirkham.
