Moving From Inclusivity Talk to Equity in Action in International Education Leadership

Participate in the Institute of International Education/Dickinson Workshop on Inclusivity and Intercultural Competency

Over the 2020-21 academic year, the Institute of International Education (IIE) partnered with Dickinson College on a new workshop focused on inclusivity and intercultural competency. Designed to be practical in nature, the Moving from Inclusivity Talk to Equity in Action in International Education Leadership workshops provided much-needed training opportunities that explore the intersection between intercultural and global learning and diversity, equity and inclusion—work that has been traditionally siloed. We hosted three workshops with over 200 participants, representing 80+ institutions and five countries.

The partnership between Dickinson and IIE aims to bridge the gap by bringing practitioners, scholars and learners from across disciplines, backgrounds and cultures together to create new knowledge, best practices and collaborative approaches that grapple with the complexity of building trust and equity across cultures.

New in 2022

Registration is open for our three-part workshop series (9 synchronous hours and 9 asynchronous hours) Building Bridges: Committing to Global Equity and Justice in International Education

Institute of International Education and Dickinson College Partnership

Dickinson College and the Institute of International Education (IIE) have partnered to offer a timely workshop at the intersection between intercultural and global learning and diversity, equity and inclusion. This unique collaboration between IIE and Dickinson leverages the strengths of two institutions with a common commitment to international education and a shared mission of building inclusive, equitable and sustainable communities. Both institutions bring deep expertise and a global network that provides an opportunity to reimagine an international education framework that incorporates global, intercultural and equity/inclusion lenses.

About the Workshop

Moving From Inclusivity Talk to Equity in Action in International Education Leadership

International education leaders across sectors understand more than ever the need to not just "talk the talk" of equity and inclusion but "walk the walk." This two-day workshop is for leaders based all over the world across sectors who are committed to building equitable and inclusive communities within their organizational, local, national and global groupings. This is an urgent challenge, the way forward complex and, in many cases, unchartered.

If you are ready to gather case studies, develop a deeper understanding of the theories and practice at the intersection of diversity, equity and inclusion and intercultural/global learning, see and begin to break down structural and organizational barriers that impede real change and start to develop a plan for action, please join us.  Additionally, participants will develop a network of other international education leaders, share their own challenges and questions and co-create solutions.

Participant Feedback

"You all created a safe and vulnerable space where this was not 'small talk.' We got down and dirty to real conversations immediately, which I love, and the conversations and ideas were flowing. This was incredibly valuable, and I look forward to attending more workshops like this in the future!"
