How has Dickinson prepared you for life after graduation?

Dickinson has prepared me for life after graduation by requiring me to engage in courses outside of my discipline of biology. I became incredibly interested in anthropology after taking a required U.S. Diversity course. By engaging in the study of anthropology alongside my biology degree, I was able to view health and healing from a much wider lens and step away from our traditional Western view of healthcare. I have been able to learn about so many countries and cultures that will forever enhance my education and all future endeavors, especially in the healthcare field.

How has Dickinson prepared you for life after graduation?

Dickinson has allowed me to do things that I would have never thought I would be able to do. I came to Dickinson as a shy, not very confident person. I am now leaving Dickinson having been involved in many different leadership roles, presenting my research and having made connections that I know I can come back to if I ever need help in any way. I think that I have gotten a good background in topics that I hope to learn more about during my master's and other future endeavors.

How has Dickinson prepared you for life after graduation?

Dickinson has prepared me immensely for life after graduation not only in terms of the knowledge I've gained here from my courses, but also in terms of my readiness to engage with so many different types of people and on such a wide variety of topics. I feel that I've been able to gain a ton of experience that have augmented my transferable skills that will help me to achieve my goals. Because Dickinson is a liberal arts institution that also encourages students to get involved in what they enjoy, I've been able to pursue multiple avenues of study and be involved in so much, both on and off campus. For example, I've been able to work in the Multilingual Writing Center as a tutor, be a research assistant and present my research at the science symposium, study abroad in Spain, tour guide, volunteer in the Carlisle ER, do medical interpretation for migrant farmworkers, and so much more while also connecting with the amazing people here. After all my experiences at Dickinson, I feel ready to actively engage with the wider world and bring the skills I've strengthened through my experiences here. In fostering a collaborative and engaged community, Dickinson has provided a strong jumping off point that will help launch me towards my goals and has given me a supportive network that will last for years.
