What are you most anticipating about your career or post-graduate pursuits?

I'm excited to take everything that Dickinson has taught me and use it in the future to help people once I get my master's in social work.

What are some of the defining moments of your Dickinson experience?

While this isn't a moment, my advisor, Assistant Professor of Political Science David O'Connell, was a huge part of my Dickinson experience. He is the best professor I have ever had, and he is always there to support his students in any way he can.

Some of my defining moments at Dickinson were taking classes not directly related to my major and ending up studying that topic full time as a graduate student.

How has Dickinson prepared you for life after graduation?

I also had two externship experiences provided to me by Dickinson. These were amazing growth opportunities. The Department of Political Science at Dickinson is amazing. I am writing my senior honors thesis currently, which led me to accept a full-time position in Washington, D.C. beginning immediately when I graduate in May 2021. I am also on the track & field team. Being a student athlete helped me manage my time well and prioritize my goals.

What are you most anticipating about your career or post-graduate pursuits?

Moving to Washington, D.C., and advocating for policy that I care about.

What are some of the defining moments of your Dickinson experience?

My senior thesis writing experience, my experiences abroad at the Washington Center in Washington, D.C., and, most importantly, my Dana Research Assistantship in the Department of Political Science. I am assisting Associate Professor of Political Science Katie Marchetti and Associate Professor of Political Science Sarah Niebler in two separate projects throughout the entirety of my senior year. This has been my most fulfilling and fruitful experience at Dickinson.

Internship Experience

Government relations intern at the Delaware River Port Authority in Camden, N.J. I attended City Council sessions in Philadelphia, Pa; composed Notice of Address letters to multiple business administrators of local towns and municipalities; and assisted the Government Relations and Grants Department by editing and revising grant proposals and applications. I was also a fellow at eStreet Group political consulting firm in Washington, D.C. during the fall 2019 semester (at the Washington Center). Here, I created potential donor and client profiles; compiled, analyzed and interpreted data sets on voter information and demographics; coordinated data-based, grassroots online fundraising programs; wrote, edited and produced fundraising and petition emails for political clients and advocacy groups; developed social media posts, graphics and videos that drove account growth and engagement for millions of combined followers.

I feel that my study abroad experience in Málaga, Spain was a defining moment of my Dickinson experience.

The workplace I'm going into is campaign based so it is a very fast-paced environment, especially the months before election days. Because of my experience as a student-athlete on campus, I feel confident in multi-tasking when I have a lot on my plate.

What are you most anticipating about your career or post-graduate pursuits?

I am looking forward to the upcoming elections in 2022 and 2024 and seeing how the Republican Party transforms post-Trump.

What are some of the defining moments of your Dickinson experience?

Studying abroad in Málaga, Spain, I had the best host family who allowed me to become fluent in Spanish. Another highlight was being captain of the women's tennis team, where I was extremely fortunate to have a season and make great friends for life.
