The Alumni Council is calling all Dickinson graduates to get involved this May with the launch of the Alumni Engagement Challenge: Rush to Engage, a fun, competitive initiative designed to bring the Dickinson community together and increase alumni engagement.
Running May 1–29, the challenge invites alumni from every class year to complete at least one of five simple but meaningful actions that connect them with the college they love. But the initiative is about more than just showing the love. Because our alumni engagement percentage impacts external rankings and perceptions of the college, taking part in the challenge is a great way for alumni to strengthen their alma mater.
"This is about more than just participation—it's about reminding ourselves why we fell in love with Dickinson in the first place and showing the world that the people who know this college best believe in its mission enough to stay connected and involved," says Alumni Council President Bruce Rychlik '89. "Whether you're a recent grad or you've been out for decades, there's something genuinely exciting about seeing our community come together and compete for a little bragging rights along the way.”
All class years are organized into 10 teams based on the last digit of your graduation year—so the class of 1994, 2004, 2014 and 2024 would all compete together as the "4s," for example. Each team member that completes one of the five engagement goals earns points for the team, and the team with the most engagement points at the end of the month wins a discount at the Dickinson College Outfitters bookstore.
Here's what counts toward your team's score this May:
No matter when you graduated, your participation matters—both to your team's standings and to the Dickinson community as a whole. The challenge runs through May 29, so there's plenty of time to check off all five actions and help your class year team climb to the top of the leaderboard.
Stay tuned for updates on team standings, and get ready to show some Dickinson pride. Rush to Engage starts May 1! Are you in?
