Eddy Chow ’27 (biology, pre-health) balances rigorous academics with his passions for tennis and music—and he even found time to study abroad. Eddy plans to pursue a doctoral program in physical therapy. The time-management skills he’s perfecting as a busy bio major, tennis student-athlete and member of the Dickinson Orchestra will help him succeed.
Hometown:
Allentown, Pa.
High school:
Emmaus High School.
Major:
Biology (pre-health track).
Best thing about my Dickinson experience:
"I can work hard for a good education while also doing things that I am passionate about, like music and tennis."
Best thing about my major:
All the classes within my major are super-interesting. (I could be biased, because I love science.)
On choosing Dickinson:
I chose Dickinson because I wanted to go to a school with high-level academics. I also wanted to be an athlete, so going to a Division III school for tennis was a no-brainer for me. On top of that, I reached out to Dickinson’s music department before I applied, and just talking with them about the music program made me really want to come here.
On studying abroad:
I studied abroad in Bologna, Italy. I was able to see and witness many different cultures firsthand. I really recommend studying abroad.
Post-Dickinson plans:
I hope to go straight into a physical therapy doctoral program and pursue my dream of becoming a physical therapist.
Most important thing I’ve learned so far:
The most important thing I’ve learned so far at Dickinson is time management. Balancing schoolwork while being a student-athlete and staying involved with the music department takes a lot of time. I’ve learned how to manage my schedule effectively, and that’s something I’ll carry with me long after college.
Clubs and organizations:
Men’s tennis and Dickinson College & Community Orchestra.
Honors/scholarships/awards:
Merit scholarship and Music Scholars Award.
