College significantly broadens the reach of the Dickinson Promise initiative

Dickinson College has announced that it will offer free tuition for all domestic students whose families earn $125,000 or less annually, effective with the incoming class of 2030. The move significantly broadens the reach of the Dickinson Promise initiative, which was launched in May at the conclusion of the successful $75 million Campaign for Scholarships.

"The remarkable success of the Campaign for Scholarships proved the incredible generosity of the Dickinson community, but we also heard a clear message that our community wants us to be even bolder in our commitment to affordability," said President John E. Jones III ’77, P’11. "In recognition of the difficult financial climate and the deep confidence we have in our loyal donors, we are taking this momentous step to ensure that finances don't prevent worthy students from accessing this life-changing education."

Commitment to Affordability and Access Deepens

The Dickinson Promise puts Dickinson among a select group of colleges nationwide able to offer such substantial support. In addition to the expanded tuition-free threshold, the college will continue to eliminate student loans from financial aid packages for incoming domestic students with a family income of $75,000 or less.

Fueled by Generosity, Sustained by Community

The Dickinson Promise was made possible thanks to the extraordinary generosity of more than 5,000 alumni, parents, students, faculty, staff and friends who supported the Campaign for Scholarships with over $78 million in gifts.

In announcing the expansion, President Jones noted that the entire Dickinson community can take pride in helping the college make this commitment to affordability. Moving forward, Dickinson will continue to rely on its robust community of alumni and parents to uphold and continue to enhance the Dickinson Promise.

"We thank all the donors who made the initial Promise possible and showed the incredible support of the Dickinson community,” said President Jones. “You have given us the confidence to make this bold move. As we move forward, we will continue to rely on our community of committed donors to move Dickinson and the Dickinson Promise forward.”
