Dickinson’s club baseball team capped off an exceptional 2025 season by clinching the National Club Baseball Association Division III District I Championship and advancing to the Division III World Series—the deepest postseason run in program history.
After finishing the regular season with a 9-1 record in conference play, the Red Devils dominated the District I playoffs, held May 2–4 in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey. As champions of the District I West division, they earned a coveted spot in the NCBA Division III World Series, hosted in Butler, Pennsylvania, from May 16–18.
This year’s World Series featured a new, expanded four-team format, highlighting the growing competitiveness of club baseball nationwide.
Leading the way for Dickinson was club president and first baseman Colin Williams ’25 (Spanish & Portuguese studies, international business & management), who was named NCBA Player of the Week after going 4-for-10 at the plate with a double, five RBIs and a home run in the championship win over Lehigh.
“They did an unbelievable job setting us up for success,” says Williams of club founders Matthew Hochberg ’22 and Theo Bufferd ’22. “What made this year different was the culture of the team. Outside of practice and games, we spent a significant amount of time with one another. I’ve never been on a team where I felt that I was close friends with every single player until this season—and this directly led to on-field success.”
Williams also highlighted the club’s spring break trip to Panama City Beach, Florida, as a favorite memory. “We played four games and got to spend a lot of time in the sun. Club baseball offers a relaxed, fun environment where games are still extremely competitive. The time we spent together down south fostered the team’s culture.”
On the mound, Derek Chibbaro ’25 (data analytics, quantitative economics), the team’s ace, was equally vital. He pitched seven innings of one-run ball in the first-round win over Lehigh, then returned in relief during the championship game to shut down a late rally and secure the District I title. Chibbaro earned Pitcher of the Week honors heading into the World Series.
“We’re more than just a baseball team—we’re a tight-knit group of friends who’ve become like family,” says Chibbaro. “Every player has a meaningful role, whether on the field or off, and the constant support from one another keeps us pushing forward. That bond fueled our determination to grow and improve every single day, no matter how tough the challenge.”
He described the district playoffs as the high point of the season. “Celebrating our championship win with my favorite people from college was an unforgettable feeling and an incredible accomplishment.”
Though they didn’t capture the World Series title, the Red Devils return home proud of a historic run that showcased resilience, chemistry and passion for the game.
As Williams prepares to attend Penn State Dickinson Law and Chibbaro looks to launch a business career, they leave behind a legacy of excellence and camaraderie.
“We’ve shown what’s possible,” says Chibbaro. “And I know this team is only going to keep building from here.”
