Hometown:
Major:
Computer science, with a minor in music.
Clubs and organizations:
Track and field.
Honors/scholarships/awards:
1783 Scholarship, Centennial Conference champion (three times, for shot put) and shot put record holder (Centennial Conference and Dickinson College).
Best thing about my Dickinson experience:
Dickinson has given me the ability to study a wide range of topics—from computer science and mathematics to music—within a close-knit community of peers.
Best thing about my major:
I enjoy being a computer science major because we are taught the technical and ethical skills to solve problems through technology, for not only our current generation but for generations to come.
On choosing Dickinson:
I chose Dickinson [and applied Early Decision] in pursuit of a well-rounded liberal-arts education with the opportunity to do sports.
Favorite class:
Algorithm Analysis and Music in Media. I enjoyed Algorithm Analysis because it pushed me to be a better programmer, and Music in Media encapsulated many of my favorite art forms.
Favorite professor (and why):
Visiting Assistant Professor of Music Lena Leson, because she teaches her courses with deep appreciation for each subject, and her love for music rubs off on her students.
About my internship:
In my recent internship with Applied Insight in Hanover, Md., I aided in developing software that transfers data between declassified and classified databases. I learned a lot about the software development cycle and how to use professional technologies in the software development world.
Post-Dickinson plans:
I’m applying to graduate schools to study topics such as cybersecurity and privacy engineering.
Most important thing I’ve learned so far:
My college experience has taught me to only worry about the things in life that I can control. When you only worry about what you can control, good things will follow!
