At Dickinson, we had the opportunity to forge lifelong friendships with classmates and contemporaries. For many of us, this is one of the enduring gifts of the Dickinson experience. So, too, however, is the opportunity to be an active part of the broader alumni community.

One of the key priorities of the Alumni Council is to help strengthen relationships between alumni across classes and generations. There are more than 25,000 active alumni living across the world, engaged in an expansive range of professions and pursuits. We have much to offer each other.

A few years ago, I connected with Danny Kaplan ’11. He saw a post on LinkedIn and reached out, noticing that we worked in very similar fields. Despite being separated by 3,000 miles and almost 20 years, we were connected by our Dickinson experience. We discovered that we had many things in common, and our work was closely aligned. One phone call turned into ongoing conversations during which we’ve shared business ideas, sought each other’s advice and just enjoyed getting to know each other. Five years later, the conversation continues, and Danny has become a trusted collaborator and good friend.

The opportunity to know and learn from fellow Dickinsonians across classes and generations can be incredibly rewarding and enriching. We share a common love of learning and an appreciation for all that we have gained from our Dickinson experience. We encourage you to take the opportunity to engage with the broader Dickinson community: Volunteer to organize or participate in regional or on-campus events, connect with fellow Alumni through Alumnifire, or utilize the Dickinson Career Community on LinkedIn.

We have much to offer each other.
