Tell us about your career. What does a typical workday look like for you?

For the past eight years, I have worked in marketing for a financial services company—in 2013 I started working at OppenheimerFunds, and in 2019 the firm was acquired by Invesco. I have been on the marketing operations team in various roles during my tenure. It is hard to describe a typical day at Invesco because the projects are constantly changing depending on the business needs. I always strive to seek learning opportunities whether it’s from my colleagues or professional development courses, and see how my skills can add value in my role. I am also president of our corporate Toastmasters club and we meet (virtually) twice a month. Since we've been virtual, we've been able to expand the club and offer membership to people in our other offices (outside of New York). It has been a great way to stay connected with coworkers, especially since we haven't seen each other in person in almost a year!

What inspired your gift to Dickinson?

I had such a wonderful experience at Dickinson, so I am happy to give back so the current students can also have a memorable experience. I love participating in Dickinson's Day of Giving, Giving Tuesday, etc. My previous company also matched my gifts.

Why do you feel that it is important to give back to Dickinson?

As a pretty active alumna, it is important for me to give back to Dickinson because of the experience I had there. I love seeing my classmates in the back of the Dickinson Magazine as other donors and members of the Mermaid Society or the John Dickinson Society. It's also why I love being part of the reunion committees—I helped plan our five-year reunion and am currently on the committee to plan our 10-year reunion.

What is your favorite memory from your time at Dickinson?

I have so many amazing memories from my time Dickinson—how can I pick a favorite?! I'll name a few:

  • First & foremost, all the friendships I made throughout my four years!
  • Being part of the Dance Theatre Group (DTG), performing (fresh, soph and senior years) and choreographing (soph and senior years).
  • Being on the Red Devils cheerleading team, cheering for football and basketball games and competing twice.
  • Studying abroad in Bologna, Italy, for my whole junior year.
  • Being a member of Kappa Alpha Theta & still keeping in touch with my sisters.
  • Having a big picture from the dance I choreographed in the Caf! (I wish I was able to keep it!)

Can you tell us about what you do outside of work—hobbies, interests, etc.?

I like to travel—lately (due to COVID) I've just been going to Atlanta to visit my sister. I enjoy exercising—Orangetheory fitness, yoga, dance cardio, etc. In a pre-COVID world, I would love to go to Broadway shows and concerts (I love live music), take dance classes at Steps on Broadway in NYC. I also like to read and watch shows or movies, I love the beach, and I'm also a big fan of professional development and learning—books, classes, LinkedIn Learning, etc. A few months ago I took a 10-week Digital Marketing course through General Assembly.

What is one piece of advice you would give to today’s students?

Always find opportunities to learn. Be curious, and always be kind.
