“Dickinson did a lot for me. I learned how to think, how to write and how to navigate through challenges. I have a lot of appreciation for that, and that’s why I want to give back.”
Loved campus from the first time he visited, with future U.S. Representative Jim Gerlach ’77 as his tour guide. MADE LIFE-LONG FRIENDS WHILE MAJORING IN ECONOMICS AND “LEARNING HOW TO THINK.” Took a chance after graduation, launching a diesel pump rental company, Godwin Pumps. Harnessed his liberal-arts education to take the business from the backseat of his 1972 Monte Carlo to 26 locations with more than 600 employees and a value of nearly $600 million. Sold the company in 2010 and now manages a real estate company, serves as a leadership consultant, supports his alma mater as a John Dickinson Society donor and enjoys spending time with his fiancée, Rachel, and their 3-year-old son, Wesley.
