For Current Community Engagement Fellows

Program Overview 

Here is an overview of the major program elements for each semester of the program. Note that your individual schedule may vary, particularly if you are continuing for a third or fourth year. For details on assignments, please scroll to the “Assignments” section of this page. 

  • Semester one (fall): Interview & Selection Process; 1-1 meeting with student program coordinator 
  • Semester two (spring): site visit with supervisor and Director of Community Engagement; 1-1 meeting with student program coordinator; Civic Project and Poster presentation at the Civic Engagement Symposium (group and individual projects acceptable) 
  • Semester three (fall): Internship Notation Program (or in semester four); 1-1 meeting with student program coordinator; Community-Connected Class (or in semester four) and presentation 
  • Semester four (spring): site visit with supervisor and Director of Community Engagement; Internship Notation Program (if not in semester three); Community-Connected Class (if not in semester three); 1-1 meeting with student program coordinator; capstone presentation at Civic Engagement Symposium; optional proposal for extension for Semester Five and beyond 

Weekly Meeting Schedule 

For the Spring 2024 semester, group meetings are on Tuesdays during Common Hour. Unless otherwise noted, all Tuesday meetings will take place in the HUB Side Room 204-205. Here are upcoming topics and guest speakers (schedule subject to change). 

  • Tuesday, January 30: General Check In  
  • Tuesday, February 13: Dickinson Votes Training & Electoral Conversation w/ Erik Love and Sarah Niebler
  • Tuesday, February 20Meeting will be in the Social Hall
  • Tuesday, February 27: Industries with Dave Sarcone
  • Tuesday, March 5: No Meeting
  • Tuesday, March 12: Spring Break (no meeting)
  • Tuesday, March 19Meeting will be in the Social Hall
  • Tuesday, April 2: Trust Based Philanthropy w/ Carol Thronton, Partnership for Better Health
  • Tuesday, April 16Meeting will be in the Social Hall
  • Tuesday, April 25: End of Year Celebration and Symposium (in the Social Hall)
  • Tuesday, April 30: No Meeting (last day of classes is Friday, May 3)

Assignments 

Below are downloads with details of assignments and general due dates. If you are unsure of a due date for the current semester, please check in with the program coordinator

  • Civic Projects and Posters
  • Community-Connected Class (year two – semester three/four)
  • Semester Five Proposals: Due in Early April of semester four; but should be discussed in the site visit of semester four (usually February of your second year in the program).
