We are pleased to welcome Dr. Andrew Parsekian '05, Associate Professor of Environmental Geophysics at the University of Wyoming. His lecture is entitled: “Boots on the Snow: A Geophysical View of Modern Terrestrial Arctic Dynamics”. For those unable to attend in person, this event will also be live-streamed on YouTube at the following link: https://youtube.com/live/HLRWA8r6XQw?feature=share Dr. Parsekian earned his BS from Dickinson College in 2005 and PhD from Rutgers University in 2011. He joined the Department of Geology & Geophysics at the University of Wyoming in 2014, where he currently works as a professor. Dr. Parsekian’s research focuses on geophysical measurement of permafrost systems, mostly in Alaska, using electrical and electromagnetic subsurface imaging methods. Recent projects in this area include geomorphic dynamics of surface water systems, active layer mapping, measurement of ground ice, coastal erosion, and freezing point depression of saline permafrost. The Potter Lecture was established by alumni, colleagues, and friends in 2004 to honor Emeritus Professor Noel Potter who retired from Dickinson in 2005.
