Michael Meagher ’00 - "Anything Can Happen Now that We've Slid Over this Bridge:" A Wall Street Piscaresque
Dickinson English alumni have all sorts of interesting jobs. Each spring, the Cogan Alumni Fellowship brings a graduate to campus to share life experience and career advice with current students. The residency was named in honor of Eleanor Cogan (1909-2011), who took 52 classes at Dickinson, beginning when she was 70. Mrs. Cogan's adventurous spirit and lifelong curiosity inspires our choice of Cogan speakers.
Michael Meagher ’00 is a Partner at Carlyle Group and Head of Origination for Direct Lending in Global Credit. He is based in New York and sits on the firm's Private Investment Committees. Prior to joining Carlyle, Mr. Meagher was a Managing Director at Golub Capital, where he was responsible for originating, structuring, underwriting and monitoring portfolio investments, primarily senior secured loans to middle market companies. Mr. Meagher started his leveraged finance career at Deutsche Bank, where he worked as an Investment Banker in both the Financial Sponsors Group and the Restructuring & Workout Group. Prior to his Wall Street career, Mr. Meagher coached college and high school football, worked in commercial real estate development, and volunteered in the rebuilding effort in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. Mr. Meagher received his BA in English from Dickinson College in 2000, cum laude and with Departmental Honors.
