The Archaeology Department presents Archaeological Institute of America Lecture Dr. Fae Amiro.
Lecture: Provincial Coin Portraits of Roman Imperial Women and the Portrait Dissemination System
Speaker: Dr. Fae Amiro, Visiting Assistant Professor, Mount Allison University
Dr. Amiro’s research focuses on the portraits of Roman imperial women in coinage and sculpture, with a special interest in how their images were created, adapted, and circulated across the Empire. This lecture explores how provincial mints made intentional choices—sometimes reusing or adapting older models—that offer insight into the broader imperial portrait dissemination system.
Light refreshments will be served.
