Dickinson faculty, students and local community members join with members of Cantante Carlisle and their Young Voices to present a perfect holiday treat for children of all ages.
Talking chairs! Furious fire! Mystical cats! A princess! And a spoiled, wicked child. Dickinson faculty, students and local community singers, together with members of Cantate Carlisle and their Young Voices, present Maurice Ravel and Collette’s enchanting opera L’enfant et les sortilèges (The child and the magic spells).
The child refuses to do homework and throws a tantrum--and all manner of chaos breaks loose.
This 45-minute production is free and open to the public. Karen Lordi-Kirkham directs with James Martin conducting. Puppetry and costumes are courtesy of Sherry Harper McCombs, with scenery by Kevin Harper-McCombs. This production is generously funded by the Center for Sustainability Education, The Center for Civic Learning & Action and the Dickinson College Music Outreach Program.
