Harvest of the Arts

September 28, 2024

The Downtown Carlisle Association presents the 42nd Annual Harvest of the Arts, sponsored by M&T Bank.

The festival boasts over 100 artists and crafters, a beautiful display of European sports cars, kids’ activities and live entertainment.

The fun begins Saturday, September 28 from 10am to 5pm along West High Street from Hanover to College Street. As the largest one-day event in downtown Carlisle, Harvest of the Arts provides the opportunity for festivalgoers to also explore our unique shops, eateries and breweries, while admiring the charm of the historic downtown. According to Main Street Manager, Stacey Gould, “A large variety of talented craftsmen and artisan exhibitors will be represented:  Painting, photography, plants, pottery, sculpture, glass, jewelry, soaps, candles, clothing, fabric, fiber, floral arrangements and woodworking will all be on display.” The Susquehanna Valley Plein Aire Painters will once again be strolling through the festival capturing the scenery.  These local artists gather regularly to paint outdoors and have participated in Harvest of the Arts for the last 10 years. From 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. History on High will be hosting a Nuno Felting Demonstration by Elaine Haag, wife of David Haag ’74.

Music
The day will be filled with live music by local artists thanks to a generous sponsorship by UPMC. Performances will take place at two prime locations, on the town square by Veteran’s Courtyard and also under the marquee at the Carlisle Theatre.

Food
There will be a variety of festival food options, including crabcakes, French fries, funnel cakes, baked goods and other sweet treats, plus fresh food items from several of the weekly Farmers on the Square vendors.

Kid’s Alley
The Kid’s Alley will return this year along North Pitt Street with many fun activities for children of all ages, including face painting, caricatures and crafting projects.

Meeting of the Marques
The Susquehanna Valley Vintage Sports Car Club will once again showcase a collection of European sports cars at the annual "Artistry on Wheels" display. Now in the eighth year as a festival participant, the Meeting of the Marques has become a bonus art exhibit.
