Pop-Up Makery

February 19, 2024

Get inspired by the African American History Quilt on loan from Dauphin County and build a quilt square that tells your story!

The Library is hosting a Pop-Up Makery from 2/19-2/27 for students to learn about the art of quilting and work on their own quilt squares. Sewing machines and quilting materials will be available on the main level, next to the reference section. Need an instruction lesson before starting? We will be having expert quilters from the African American Quilters Gathering of Harrisburg and Colonial Park Quilters who contributed to the African American History Quilt in the library on Wednesday 2/21 and Thursday 2/22 to help you get started. All materials are provided!

Don't forget to attend the launch of our own quilting movement, "A Quilting Movement - 'This is Us' and the African American Quilt" on Thursday 2/29 at 5:30pm in Stern!
