English 403 Plenary Lecture by Professor Carolyn Dever

Carolyn Dever, Professor of English, Dartmouth College presents "Secret Feathers of a Dove: The Diary of Michael Field."

Professor Carolyn Dever is a scholar of British literature and culture of the nineteenth century, as well as gender studies. She has published two books, Death and the Mother from Dickens to Freud: Victorian Fiction and the Anxiety of Origins (Cambridge), and Skeptical Feminisms: Activist Theory, Activist Practice (Minnesota); and edited two books, The Literary Channel: The Inter-National Invention of the Novel (Princeton), and The Cambridge Companion to Anthony Trollope (Cambridge). Her latest book, Chains of Love and Beauty (Princeton, 2022) is focused on the collaborative journals of the Victorian poets "Michael Field." Carolyn Dever served as Dartmouth’s Provost from 2014-2017.
