Based on the film directed by legendary B-movie director Roger Corman, the musical brilliantly theatricalizes the horror of the original through satirical songs and outlandish situations. A kind of Faustian legend for the common man, this musical comedy presents the predicament of Seymour, a simple flower-shop worker, who must decide between his plant’s want for blood and his own passion for the seemingly unattainable Audrey.

Set in Skid Row, Little Shop is filled with outlandish characters, including a Motown-style Greek chorus, a musical score that blends classic rock and classic Broadway and a story that is poignant, darkly comic and uproarious. First produced in 1982, Little Shop is currently enjoying a revival run on Broadway.

A critic for The New York Times described the show as “leaving the audience … feeling just like Audrey II between victims--ravenous for more.” A New York Post reviewer commented, “This horticultural horror will have you screaming with laughter.”
