The Joy of Singing... Music of the Harlem Renaissance

December 6, 2020

Food for the soul.

The Joy of Singing.. Music of the Harlem Renaissance promises food for the soul. Dickinson professors James Martin and Gregory Strohman provide the music of Duke Ellington, Bessie Smith, W.C. Handy and more while professor Lynn Johnson (Africana Studies/Food Studies) cooks up something good to go along with images of Black American life provided by Jerry Philogene (American Studies). Music that matters with a little Holiday cheer to boot! To view this performance, log on to the Dickinson College Music Department YouTube page.
