Italian Culinary Talk and Regional Tastings

February 7, 2020

Want a literal taste of Italy? Join fellow Dickinsonians for an evening of delicious Italian food and culture as you journey through all regions of Italy!

Reception and Talk: Liguria 5:30 – 7 p.m.
Bosler Hall Atrium (corner of High and College streets)

Begin the evening in Bosler Hall with a reception and talk on the Liguria region. A slender, mountainous rainbow stretched between the grassy ocean of the Po Valley and the Mediterranean Sea, the northern Italian region of Liguria contains a multitude of landscapes and climates. Associate Professor of Italian Tullio Pagano, author of two books on the subject, will take the audience on a brief excursion from the sun-drenched Italian Riviera to the inland, where chestnut forests and their products replace the olive and citrus orchards that we associate with Mediterranean food culture. Italian Event: Flavors of Italy 7 – 8 p.m. Marc and Eva Stern Foundation Center for Global Education (208 W. Louther Street) Attend a post-lecture Flavors of Italy event in Stern Center, hosted by Dickinson’s Italian department and Italian Club. Come sample delicious specialties from all regions of Italy: pesto alla Genovese from Liguria, dry-cured speck from Trentino-Alto Adige, imported cheeses and truffles and even some dare-to-try specialties like sea snails! Meet Italian faculty members and learn about regions of Italy from current students of Italian and members of the Italian Club. Please register by Wednesday, Feb. 5.
